Should Everyone Follow the 10 step Korean skin care routine?

No, I don’t believe that the 10 step Korean skin care routine will be useful for everyone. First of all, we don’t have that much time on our hands and second, putting that many different products on your face can sometimes make your skin worse. For me, thankfully, I have tried all the products and so far, so good.

While there are 10 steps, that doesn’t mean you have to do all steps regularly. Depending on your skin type, like any skincare routine, you could combine a couple of steps if you’ve got a product that tackles two of those steps in one. Or you can really just cut back where you feel it’s not necessary.

The 10 Step Korean Skin Care Routine

This routine may seem a bit extensive at first but what good comes without effort, right? Let’s check out the 10 important steps of Korean skin care to get the most desired glass skin.

    Step 1: Oil Cleanser

The first step in the 10 step Korean skin care is applying an oil-based cleanser, and removing makeup and SPF debris from the day.

    Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser

This could be like a foaming cleanser, a gel or a cream cleanser. This is the cleanser that is most tailored to your skin concerns. It’s really going to take your cleansing journey a step further and just make sure that it is a clear canvas to work from.

    Step 3: Exfoliant

This is not something you have to do every single night. You might use a good exfoliant one night if you have more sensitive or dry skin. Or you might up it to two nights a week. This is going to go in even further and do the good work. It will remove any excess oil buildup and any product buildup, or anything that basically congests your skin and will also help to resurface it. So that’s where you will get that really, glowy, gorgeous bright skin.

    Step 4: Toner

Essentially this is about just bringing back some of that moisture to your skin that you may have lost from your exfoliant and adjusting your skin’s pH level. It will make sure that you get the best result from those products with the steps coming next.

    Step 5: Essence

An Essence is a unique skincare product that Korean people usually don’t skip. It’s all about adding extra hydration and nutrients to your face. Apply an essence after your toner to get the hydration boost and achieve the healthy, plumpy glass skin you want.

    Step 6: Serum or Ampoule

This is the point at which you’re going to be using a targeted treatment. Serums are packed with active ingredients, and ampoules are supercharged serums that contain a higher concentration of actives. You can use hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, retinol or any other serum according to your skin type and concerns. For example, if you have dryness, you can go for a hyaluronic acid serum. If you have wrinkles or ageing concerns, then a retinol or peptide-based serum may be a good option for you.

    Step 7: Sheet mask

Sheet masks are quite popular in South Korean skincare regimens. They are soaked in serum and provide an intensive hydration boost. A sheet mask will allow your skin to absorb nutrients and moisture and will leave your skin so soft and supple.

I am not saying you have to put a sheet mask on your face every single day, but once or twice a week, It’s just a really lovely, self-care movement. I love applying a face mask on days when my face is feeling especially dry as it instantly gives me much brighter skin and makes my skin feel so much more moisturized.

One thing I need to say is don’t wear the mask for too long, only wear it for about 10-15 minutes. If you wear the mask too long, it will actually start sucking moisture from your skin when the mask dries up.

    Step 8: Eye Cream

If you have puffiness, dark circles or just general dullness or dehydration, this step is about putting the moisture back into your eye area and addressing any of these concerns. As the skin around the eyes is the most delicate and prone to showing ageing signs faster, so don’t forget to include a good eye cream in your 10 step Korean skin care routine.

You have applied multiple layers of products on your face. Now it’s time to lock all the layers with a gentle, hydrating moisturizer.

We all know what moisturizers do. They are all about hydrating  They are filled with humectants, which draw water into the skin. And emollients which are just going to really build and support the skin barrier.

Okay while you’re moisturizing your face, don’t forget your lips! They deserve to be pampered too! Apply a hydrating lip balm to keep your lips moisturized and healthy.

    PM Step 10: Night Mask

At night, you can finish your 10-step Korean skin care routine with a sleeping mask, especially if you have dry or dehydrated skin. It will hydrate and nourish your skin overnight.

    AM Step 10: Sunscreen

I am sure you know what’s coming in step number 10. It’s nothing but sunscreen. Because that’s how a daytime skincare routine should finish. The last and most crucial step in day time skin care routine is applying an SPF 30+, broad-spectrum sunscreen. It will help to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun. So whether it’s a sunny day or rainy day, never forget to wear your sunscreen on sun exposure.
