    Anti-inflammatory Benefits

A study published by the National Library of Medicine shows that rose petals contain anti-inflammatory components that help reduce scalp inflammation. So if you experience an itchy or inflamed scalp, rose water can offer you instant relief. And what more do you need for healthy hair growth other than a calm and healthy scalp?

    Antioxidant

How does this simple liquid make our scalp optimal for hair growth? Well, a study shows that rose petals also have antioxidant properties which help to protect our scalp and hair from environmental stress like sun rays, dust or pollution by reducing free radicals. And of course, we all know how a healthy scalp promotes healthy hair growth.

    Hydration and Moisture

Rose water contains 10-15% rose oil. It is a natural humectant and that’s what makes it more suitable for dry or brittle hair. When you apply rose water to the hair and scalp, it will act as a natural conditioner and you will get more moisturized, soft and hydrated hair.

    Ingredients

    • 3 fresh roses.
    • 6 cups of distilled water
    • A pot with a lid.

    How to make

    • Remove the petals from each rose. If you can, use pesticide-free organic roses.
    • Rinse them thoroughly and then pat them dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
    • Place the rose petals and distilled water in a pot and cover the pot with a lid.
    • Now heat the pot on a low flame and let the petals simmer for about 20-30 minutes (I repeat let it simmer, not boil).
    • The color of the water will gradually change. You’ll know the rose water is ready when the petals have lost most of their color and the water becomes pinkish.
    • Remove it from the heat and let it cool.
    • After it cools down completely, strain it and store it in a glass bottle.

Congratulations! You have just made your own first batch of rose water. You can store it for up to two weeks.
