Even a few years ago, the constant race and stress of everyday life made my life so overwhelming and complicated that I just wanted to go back to my childhood days when life was simpler and happier. You know we can’t do that. Sigh! But what we can do is try to live a happy and joyful life by simplifying our lives amidst all the chaos and exhaustion. How? Let’s dive in.
Sometimes it’s important to just slow down and keep things minimalist. I have been practicing slow living for over a year now and in this article, I am going to share 7 easy, stress-free ways that will lead to more clarity and a simplified life you will have control over. But first, Let’s have a look at what exactly it means to simplify your life.
What does it mean to simplify your life?
Simplifying your life means decluttering everything that can drain your energy and making some room for things that calm your mind and bring inner peace. It’s about focusing on what truly matters and maintaining a lifestyle that aligns with your values and goals. Basically finding ways to make your life a little bit easier.
Ways to simplify your life
Here are 7 ways that helped me simplify my life, reduce stress and embrace a more mindful lifestyle. I am sure this will help you too. Happy reading!
Organize and Let Go of Things That don’t Serve You Anymore
There’s already a lot of mess around all of us. So why create more mess by piling up all the unnecessary things that you don’t use? Or anything that doesn’t serve you any purpose anymore? Let’s declutter what you don’t need in your life and focus on organizing things that serve you to make your life easier.
I am not talking about just any materialistic things here. Get rid of everything that can drain your energy or make you exhausted. Declutter your space, your unused home accessories, old or extra clothes that you probably haven’t worn for the last 6 months or a year, the toxic relationship that can’t give you the calm you deserve, everything!
When you start to declutter the unnecessary things, you will get more time to focus on things that lead to a calmer, more peaceful life.
One Task at a Time
I know this one may be counterintuitive in today’s fast-paced world where multitasking is often praised as a skill. It indeed works for some. But our brains are not wired to handle multiple complex tasks at once. When you do multiple tasks at a time, you are more likely to make mistakes and less likely to produce results that meet your standards.
Try to give your full focus on one task at a time and give your best. It will allow you to approach tasks calmly with a clear mind and eventually help you simplify your life by producing the result you desire. So first, finish one and then go for the next.
Control Your People Dosage
If you think of people like medicine, too much of some people will make you ill and too little of some people will make you ill. So stop going to people who don’t ease your stress, instead give your quality time to people who can bring a smile to your face. What more do you need to simplify your life?
Learn to Say No
It’s the difficult part for many of us. Sometimes we don’t want something, or something doesn’t align with our values but still, we can’t say no to these things when someone asks for them. Every time we say yes to their faces, but what we mean is ‘no”.
These things can disturb you mentally and make your life more complex. Remember that everyone or everything doesn’t deserve your consent. So learn to say no when it’s necessary.
Stop Trying to Make Everyone Happy
Sometimes we push ourselves into so much pressure to please people that when we don’t get the expected reaction from them, we just get stressed and unhappy.
At first, you need to understand that whatever you do, how much effort you put in, you can’t make everyone happy all the time. There will always be people who just won’t be satisfied with you.
So chill! Do whatever is good for you, be gentle with others but stop seeking validation from them. When you are okay with the thought that it’s not your responsibility to make everyone happy, life will be less complicated and simpler.
Take Care of Yourself
Our mental health is connected with physical health. It’s never possible to calm your mind and simplify your life without taking care of yourself from both inside and outside. When you prioritize your physical well-being, you are less likely to feel the stress and complications that come with the illness and fatigue.
Do whatever is best for you. Go for regular exercise, and mindful practices, maintain a healthy diet, connect with your loved ones, and do everything that can feed your soul and body and bring joy to your heart.
Forgive
The secret to a relaxed and peaceful mind is to forgive everyone. I know when someone hurts us badly, forgiving is not always as easy as it said. But when you hold grudges against someone, it’s not only a battle against them, but against your mental peace and simplicity also.
Just accept things as they are, forgive everyone and keep yourself occupied in things that can bring positivity and simplicity to your life.
Simplifying your life is a journey toward inner peace and happiness. Just follow these easy ways and cultivate a tranquil, happy mind you always cherished.
